Viva Engage - The role of an administrator Tutorial
In this video, you will learn about the role of an administrator in SharePoint and SharePoint Online.
The admin, defined by the global admin of the Office 365 Portal, is responsible for creating the first site collection and assigning owners.
Owners manage the top-level site and any future subsites, while members can modify documents and guests can only view the site.
The admin also has a watcher role, managing storage quotas, user profiles, default language, and external sharing settings.
Understanding the admin role will help you effectively manage SharePoint and its features.

As a licensed administrator, you have access to advanced features and settings in Viva Engage. This role allows you to manage users within your organization and customize the Viva Engage interface to meet specific organizational needs. -
Accessing the Admin Center
To access the Admin Center, click on the three dots in the interface and select 'Admin' from the drop-down menu. This section is crucial for managing various aspects of your organization's Viva Engage experience. -
User Management
Under the Setup and Configuration section, you can add or remove Company Communicators. These communicators are responsible for creating and managing campaigns and designating Readers within Viva Engage. -
Tenant Settings
The Tenant settings allow you to modify key elements of your network, including: - Network name - Usage policy - Logo - Default language This section also enables you to manage and display certain aspects of analytics tools, such as audience analysis and campaign analysis. -
Governance and Compliance
In the Governance and Compliance section, administrators can export data from a network or user, or for all users in the organization. You can specify the date range for the data you wish to obtain, and there is an option to include attachments, which allows you to obtain a list of file names or folders in their native format. Note that including external networks in the exported data is not available for networks in the European Union. -
User Deletion and Management Settings
Administrators can delete users and access other management settings, such as Network Users, Content, and Security. This ensures that user management is streamlined and efficient. -
